Q&A

Foundation

Why does my foundation not last all day?

Foundation will always remain fresher looking and be longer lasting if the skin is first prepared with Australis Primer. After liquid foundation is applied, you should always set with a pressed powder.

The powder will absorb natural oils your skin may excrete, this will avoid the dreaded 3pm shine on your forehead. Keep a powder in your hand bag for touch-ups if required, you'll always look fresh with a dab of powder to your forehead and the bridge of your nose.

How do I select the correct shade of foundation for my skin?

When selecting the correct foundation shade, apply the two closest possible shades across the cheek. The shade that appears to melt into the skin, leaving no visible trace will be the correct shade.

Avoid trying to determine the correct shade by testing on the neck or forearm, as the skin will be a different colour and texture to that on the face.

If you require an "in between" combination of 2 shades, either customise your own colour from the 2 shades or go to the slightly lighter shade. Colour may always be altered and corrected with a dusting of Australis Bronzing Powder.

Outdoor lighting will provide the best and most natural indicator of the correct shade required. Often harsh fluorescent light can give a false result.

How do I hide dark circles or redness?

The objective is to colour correct the area rather than cover. This step is to be done BEFORE applying the appropriate Australis foundation.

For dark under eye circles and bruising, it is recommended to apply Australis Liquid Concealer Pen or Concealer one shade lighter than the natural skin colour. This will counterbalance any darkness.

For redness, select a colour closest to the natural skin tone for best results.

Simply apply with warm fingertips, cotton bud or concealer brush and blend until the required area is colour neutral. Apply Australis foundation over the top.

Nails

How can I avoid my nails yellowing under nail polish?

Always use a top and base coat. The base coat will protect your nails from yellowing and will increase the wear of your nail enamel. Using a top coat will give your polish a high gloss and seal it, keeping the colour vibrant and more resistant to chipping.

Lips

How can I always have plump, moisturised lips?

It’s so important to take care of your lips. Try not to lick, pick or play with them. Moisturise and nourish your lips day and night, that will make your pout full and luscious.

During the day, use lip products that are actually good for your lips. For glossy, bold colour lips use Australis Colour Inject. It’s a mineral, vitamin and peptide packed formula that soothes, nourishes and above all moisturises lips.

For super plump lips, plumptastic is the perfect lip product.  For an even fuller pout, liberally apply the gloss on the centre of your bottom lip. This defines and gives the illusion of fuller lips.

Always apply lip balm before bed. In the morning your lips will be soft and smooth and ready for the day ahead.

Eyes

How do I make my eyes look bigger?

Get to know your eye shape and wear makeup that suits you - in particular eyeliner.

Make sure you don’t close your eyes in with too much black on the outer and inner of your eyes. For eyes to look their largest, on your top lid, apply the liner from the middle of the lash line through to the outer corner.

Don’t start at the inner corner, as this will make your eyes appear smaller. On the lower eye, under the lash line again apply your line from the middle out to the outer corner. For the whites of your eyes to really pop, instead of using a black liner for the inner eye, use white. This can be used on both the top and bottom inners of your eyes.

This will intensify the natural whites of your eyes and make your eyes appear larger.
